Friday 11/11/16 - Lines and Patterns
 
 
Objective: To recognize, create, and describe various patterns.
This activity will help you to see the logic of creating patterns and to help you begin to be able to create your own.
 
Purpose: The lesson begin with the definition of the word 'pattern' (things arranged following a rule).  An overhead projector and colored transparent shapes to display patterns is ideal for presentation. Work in groups to discover the rule and extend the pattern. Practice creating your own patterns.
 
Goal: To understand patterns and look for them throughout your art & design experiences.
 
Materials: Paper and Drawing Pencil 
 
The Lesson: Identify patterns in the room. For example, floor tiles, wall paper, clothing, etc. could be used as examples. Through this sharing activity.
  • Explain what a pattern is or what a pattern is not.
  • Introduce patterns as everyday occurrences, and also define them in words that is understandable. Allow the class to the explaining. 
 Activity: The activity include a drawing or a starting point to create a pattern. Create a pattern from a shape
