Quilting  is the process of sewing two or more layers of  fabric  together to make a thicker padded material, usually to create a  quilt  or quilted garment. Sacred Art (Drawing and Meaning)

This class is based on the idea of Sacred Art. Idea and concept came from The Text African Zion: The Sacred Art of Ethiopia which is the t he art of highland Christian Ethiopia - with its icon paintings on wood, metal processional crosses, gold coins, and manuscripts - is largely unknown in the West. This book presents a survey of this art from the 4th to the 18th centuries, and addresses the function of art within Ethiopian society.

Friday 11/11/16 - Lines and Patterns     Objective: To recognize, create, and describe various patterns. This activity will help you to see the logic of creating patterns and to help you begin to be able to create your own.   Purpose: The lesson begin with the definition of the word 'pattern' (things arranged following a rule).  An overhead projector and colored transparent shapes to display patterns is ideal for presentation. Work in groups to discover the rule and extend the pattern. Practice creating your own patterns.   Goal: To understand patterns and look for them throughout your art & design experiences.   Materials: Paper and Drawing Pencil    The Lesson: Identify patterns in the room.
